Fernvale Church of Christ Music and Video

Music is considered "the universal language" that can speak to the hearts of all men and women around the world, no matter what language they speak. I realize some churches do not allow musical instruments in their music, but I've been informed that isn't true of the Fernvale Church of Christ, so I've collected both a capella and mixed numbers. I hope you enjoy them! If you think any of them are inappropriate, please tell my son and we'll work on it. - Webmaster

Video has become an important part of what they call "Web 2.0" - the next generation of the Internet. The Fernvale Church of Christ is honored to be able to offer you a bit of both!

This page has three video players containing (at this point) more than 40 videos. The top two player are music; the third is more general. When you click the play button you will see a row of small pictures across the bottom of the player. Each picture is a different video - just click one and it will play ... or you can just let them all play though.

You can also just move your mouse over the bottom of the player and the video thumbnails will appear.

If the videos seem to get slower after a bit, you can press the CTRL-R or F5 buttons to refresh the screen, then re-select the video that was slow. I'm not too sure how these will play on dial-up modems.

You'll find some well-known names here - Pete Seeger, Russ Taff, Arlo Guthrie, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Toby Keith, Amy Grant, Fairview's own Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Michael W. Smith, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Leann Rimes, Whitney Houston and many, many more!

A Note from the Webmaster: When I was a child, we attended a series of churches - Methodist, Assembly of God, Lutheran and Presbyterian. I remember many of my favorite gospel hymns from those years, including "Were You There" and "Jacob's Ladder" as well as many of those you are probably most familiar with. These are some of my personal childhood favorites.

When I was a child, life was good and pretty much carefree until my stepfather became an alcoholic and a child abuser. As I went through my teen years, life wasn't so good. I ran away from home at 16. Over the years, I have - for the most part - tried to live my life as a good person, but my faith ebbs and flows like the tide. When I'm down and feeling there's nowhere to turn, I listen to these songs and feel the power of the person singing them ... and my faith is renewed and strengthened, and I find the rock to stand on in this storm we call life. I come back often, perhaps not often enough.

I hope that if you're in pain, in doubt, facing the nightmares we face in our economy today and the threats around the world, and as you wonder what kind of world your children and grandchildren will grow up in, that you, too, find some comfort and solace in the music here.
